I’m sure most of you have seen Santorini photos all over social media showcasing these really beautiful white-washed hotels with a cave pool overlooking the island’s caldera. Getting to stay at one of those luxurious hotels at the edge of the island’s cliff has been on my bucket list for soooo long. There are countless of cave hotels all over Santorini…but where do you even begin to search? I strongly recommend you narrow down your search to the towns of Oia, Imerovigli, Firostefani, and Fira – they have the most incredible views of the sunset, volcano, and caldera.
After quite a bit of research, I decided to stay at Dana Villas & Infinity Suites which is a luxury and romantic boutique hotel located in the town of Firostefani. If you want to be close to all the action of Fira but don’t want to deal with the overwhelming crowds of tourists during the high season (June-Sept) then Firostefani is a great choice!
The Room
You can only imagine the excitement that took over my body when I arrived at this gorgeous hotel. There are 32 exclusive suites & villas arranged over 1 floor. I settled on the Master Pool Suite which had my jaw hit the floor seeing it in person for the first time. The room layout was so divine and took the word luxury to a whole new level! It was designed with a minimal, contemporary, and local Cycladic style in mind. The most memorable and lavish part about the room was the private indoor plunge pool that was hidden behind a secret doorway. The pool extends through narrow whitewashed cave walls to an outdoor terrace where you can enjoy breathtaking views of the sea, surrounding town, and Santorini’s famous sunsets. The bathroom was pretty special – I loved the volcanic ambiance and powerful rain showers. There’s a second plunge pool that is accessible through the bathroom, just pass the glass door – the heated pool also has a volcanic feel to it and is infused with jacuzzi jets, a sound system & waterfall.

Having breakfast on the outside terrace and watching the Aegean Sea dance gracefully while feeling the Greek breeze was such a refreshing way to start the day. 😍

Orkos Restaurant
After descending several winding steps you will end up on an open terrace with an infinity pool with sun loungers and the restaurant, Orkos – exclusive to hotel guests. The whole terrace feels like you’re being suspended in mid-air – the spectacular views of the caldera and Aegean sea is the cherry on top of the experience. Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner – the menu uses traditionally Greek ingredients and dish concepts, combining them in a way that is unexpected and imaginative. The tastes were exceptional and the food artistry first class. For those seeking a fresh take on traditional Greek cuisine, and wanting to sample high-quality local produce that is presented beautifully, this hidden gem amidst the clifftops of Firostefani is THE place to wine & dine!

Soma Spa
This spa has 2 treatment rooms including rooms for couples and outdoor treatment areas. Services include deep-tissue massages, hot stone massages, sports massages, and facials. A variety of treatment therapies are provided, including aromatherapy and hydrotherapy. The spa is equipped with a spa tub, a steam room, and Turkish bath/hammam.

Two years ago we stayed in “The Grace” after unsuccessfully trying to book at Dana Villas.
